Today, I went Olive Garden and I had a good experience and it wasn't the food that made me happy. When my family and I arrived, we saw a young Black man sitting at a table in all black by himself, and we thought it was weird. No food or menu on the table? strange. The hostess sat us. After sitting we saw an middle aged White woman walk in our direction with that same young man behind her. Seeing this made me realize, he was there for a job interview with that particular restaurant. They sat down and began to converse about a potential position with them. At that moment, I said a little prayer for him, "Lord, have favor over him and allow him to get that job". The White woman got up and left the young man there and a tall, chocolate complexion man walked toward the table and sat down and commenced with the second interview, the "head boss". The young man seemed as if he was beginning to relax and settle in into the idea of interviewing for a job. They got up, shook hands, and walked in separate directions.
In that establishment, I realized our society is changing. In the Olive Garden restaurant there was a Black man who was the "Head Boss", a White woman second in charge, and the hiring team being open enough to hire a young Black man with the potential and willingness to help our society to reach true equality.
